19th Century SWISS STYLE Rifle with WOVEN SLING
Here we present an antique Swiss Style Percussion Rifle, made circa the 1860s likely in Switzerland. Both the grip and the fore grip are sharply checkered. The trigger guard is what one would expect from a military pattern rifle. This rifle features double set triggers that provide an extremely light and crisp break. The barrel is 32-inches long and octagonal with a rifled .54 caliber bore.
The Eidgenössischer Stutzer Model 1851, or Federal Carbine Model 1851, also called the Feldstutzer Model 1851, was the first service rifle used by the Swiss armed forces to be procured by the federal government, which was responsible for the armament of the Cantonal armed forces under the 1848 federal constitution.
The overall condition is good. Strong action. Mirror-bright bore. The stock is in very good shape with sharp checkering. The included canvas sling has an expected amount of wear and functions as it should. The Feldstutzer type bayonet lug functions, but a bayonet is not included.
