U.S. MODEL 1842 IRA N. JOHNSON .54 CAL. PERCUSSION MILITARY PISTOL WITH 1853 DATED LOCK & BARREL. THIS EXAMPLE IS IN FINE CONDITION HAVING A 8 1/2" BARREL AND VERY GOOD SMOOTH BORE. THE BARREL & LOCK HAVE PROPERLY AGED TO A MIX OF DARK GRAY & PLUM BROWN PATINA WITH MINIMAL TO NO PITTING. INSPECTOR MARKED "B" BRASS FITTINGS HAVE TONED TO A WARM MUSTARD PATINA. ALL THE MARKINGS ARE INTACT & LEGIBLE. WALNUT STOCK RATES FINE WITH 2 LEGIBLE CARTOUCHES SHOWING MINOR HANDLING MARKS & USE. ACTION IS CRISP & STRONG WITH 2 CLICK HAMMER. AN HONEST U.S. MILITARY PISTOL OF THE TYPE USED EARLY IN THE CIVIL WAR.
