Description:
General Specs: Holloway & Co., Year 1954, 20 Gauge, 5lbs 9oz, Chokes IC/F, LOP 13 15/16", DAH 2 11/16", DAC 1 1/2"
Serial Number: 763

Holloway & Co. has been around since the 19th century. Based in Birmingham, England, Holloway was for the most part suppliers to the gunmaker’s trade. The Holloway name lives on today in partnership with another famous maker, Naughton, as Holloway & Naughton.  This Holloway 20 bore English Boxlock upland Gun was imported by Bob Jenkinson of New York, NY and is marked on the barrels as such. Jenkinson imported a good number of English guns from 1920s to 1960s and nearly all were made by Holloway. This fine example, sn763 built in 1954, was made in Birmingham, proofed for 2 ¾” heavy 1 ounce loads, is fitted with timed ejectors, double triggers, and a smooth game rib. The 26" barrels are choked IC/F with bright bores. The barrels retain about 98% blue, action has 93% factory case color, nicely executed English scroll, and excellent screws.   Other features include splinter forend with an Anson release, straight stock of English walnut showing contrasting grain and terminating in a Purdey style leather covered pad. The checkering is excellent overall and the hand-rubbed oil finish wood is in excellent condition.   The gun balances perfectly ¼” in front of the pin and weighs a dynamic 5lbs. 9oz.  The fences are engraved and along with the action have some very fine English scroll work with light borderline engraving; the work is still clean, sharp and includes Mr Jenkinson's name inscribed on both sides.  The stock shield in the belly of the stock is blank.  This is a rounded stock head and a very graceful upland gun that is choked awesome for the upland fields and the sporting clays course as well.  The barrels are tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face with the top lever well right of center.  The gun is mechanically excellent and needs no work or repairs…ready to join you on this season’s upland hunt.  Priced right as well, so don’t hesitate or she’ll be gone!  Specs for this gun can be seen below.  Thanks for looking.
