Army-Navy – Hammer English Double Rifle – 450/400 2-3/8 BPE - Stk #P-34-74
This original circa 1884-1887 antique Army-Navy hammer English double barrel Underlever Rifle has 25-7/8” tapered round Damascus barrels chambered in 450/400 2-3/8 BPE (Black Powder Express). Inscribed on the right barrel is C.S.L London and on the left barrel is Army-Navy. A rear express sight and a blade style front sight mounted on the top of the matted rib. A front sling stud is part of the rib under the barrels. The bores are in good condition with very good rifling. The checkered P+ grade Walnut butt stock and forend are in good condition with the exception of scattered usage marks and minor chips. The forend is missing a small chip of wood on the left front side near the barrel. The butt stock has a partial checkered pattern steel buttplate and sling stud. The Back Action locks work as intended and feature tasteful engraving on the locks, hammers and tang. The lever on the engraved action is tight and functions as intended. Both lock plates bear the “ Army-Navy C.S.L inscription. Length of pull is 13-5/8 and 14-1/2“. Overall length is 42-3/8”. Weight is 8.4 lbs..
