Description:
UPDATE: SOLD, 7/06/2023.
I do have extra felt here if someone would want to alter one of the compartments in the case. Please note--the felt "Lip" in the bolt compartment peels right away, and there is (I believe) wood blocking that was used to make the compartment.  The felt that I have is "Pirate Green," and is virtually indistinguishable from the felt that is currently in the case.  I have 9" x 12" sheets of felt, and will include a couple of them in with the case should someone want the case.

I have tried to be as specific as I could with dimensions for the case.  The case could be used for a G&H rifle, or, any rifle for that matter.  The best thing would be for you to contact me with dimensions of your gun if you are interested!!!  A very nice .22 sporter with a 24" barrel would probably work, because the action is shorter.  Again, get in touch and let me know what the dimensions of your gun happen to be . . . .

I keep getting inquiries about the case and what might fit in it besides a G&H gun.  Please not that not all G&H guns would fit in it.  I have included some information about other guns (that I have on hand) that do fit in the case.  If you have questions, simply call or email me.  Of course, a scope would have to be removed to fit in there.  See below:

Guns that fit in the case are:
Savage 23 Sporter Custom Stocked (this gun is listed on GI).  Although it has a 23" barrel, it just fit in the compartment because of the shape of the stock and the LOP, which is 13  5/8".  The reason this gun works is that the action is shorter!!!

Martini Cadet Custom Sporter, straight stock, 22 1/2" barrel, no sling swivels, 13  3/4" LOP.

Griffin and Howe Sporter, 22" barrel, 13  5/8" LOP.

Note: Not all G&H Guns will fit due to the shape of the pistol grip on the gun.

No gun with sling swivels will work in this case.

Here are more dimensions for you to look at:
The interior compartment is 42 1/2."  It is very slightly curved on the butt end.

The scope compartment is 11 1/16."
The Objecttive end of the scope compartment is 1 1/4."
The Front end of the scope compartment is 7/8."
A Lyman Alaskan with a G&H side mount fits perfectly.

The Cleaning rod is for a 7/mm.  It would work with a 30/06.

The Screwdrivers are perfect for a 1903 Springfield actioned gun.

I tried 3 guns in the case.  They had lengths of pull of 13 1/2", 13 5/8", and 13 3/4."   The gun with the 13 3/4" LOP measured just a hair under 13 3/4."  They all worked.  They all had 22" barrels, except one.

Another important measurement is a from the front of the top of the comb at the highest point (before it slightly slopes forward) straight down to the front portion of the pistol grip cap at the furthest point.  This measurement on this gun (with the 13 3/4' LOP) was 3 15/16".  The other two G&H guns were slightly less than that, and worked in the case.  The case is (thusly) set up for an older style G&H gun with a 7/8" scope and the dimensions as listed above.  Please Note--Norman Ford Scopes will work equally well as Alaskans.  They are exactly the same on the front and rear ends, dimensionally.

Would this case work for another gun other than a G&H?  Well, take all the measurements that I have included here.  That should give you an answer.

The total weight of the case is 18 pounds.

Again, get in touch with me if you have questions.

This is a meticulously made Oak and Leather Trunk style case.    There are no markings anywhere on the case.  Even the interior The Oval is blank.  It should be noted that the gun case was fitted to a particulare G&H gun, that had a 22" barrel and about a 13 5/8 " length of pull.  It was the typical G&H gun with their patented front sight and hood, barrel band, their stock pattern with the comb and raised ridge, and the buttstock had their typical swivel stud.  Even the interior of the compartment on the butt end is slightly curved to match the contour of the butt.  This case was for an older G&H with the German style butt plate, but I believe a gun with the Neidner style butt work work as well,

People are interested in the case to perhaps use for another gun.  Keep in mind that all the consdierations that I have mentioned above would need to be taken into consideration for the gun to fit in the case.  As a general observation, I would say that a smaller gun would work in the case.  But there are many factors determining this.  Two key figures would be the pistol grip configuration and the sight (or lack of sight) setup.  Also, the placement of the rear stud would be a consideration.  A gun with swivels would not work in the case, in my humble opinion.

UPDATE: The case was made for a 22" barreled gun.  A  24" barrel would be too long.

UPDATE:  I have received calls about the case.  The gun has a G&H Trade Label on the inside of the case, and was set up for a traditional G&H gun with the Side Lever Mount.  However, the case could adapt a modern gun (if the fitting were correct) quite easily.  A person could carefully remove the G&H Trade Label (currently sold by Galazan) and substitue another maker Trade Label to make the case correct.

Here are the exterior dimensions of the case

Overall Length  44 1/2"  The Interior compartment is 42 1/2."
Overall Width  10 1/8" (Does not include the handles or straps hanging over)
Overall Height  3 1/4" (Does not include the little extra that the brass corner blocks add)

The top length of the case is 42 3/4."

The width at the widest point is 4 1/2" at the top.

The length at the top of the case where the butt stock and pistol grip compartment end is 17 3/4."

The scope compartment length is 11  1/16."

The width of the scope compartment is 2 5/16."

The bolt compartment is 8 15/16" in length.

The handle length of the bolt compartment is 3."

The case is newer.  I would venture to say it is 30 to 40 years old or so.  It is in excellent condtion.  Of course, a vintage G&H Rifle would feel right at home in this case.  This is a completely built custom rifle case, by whoever did it.

This trunk case is the traditional oak and leather case.  It has a green felt interior, and comes with 3 screwdrivers and a cleaning rod.  The hinges and all hardware on the case is solid brass.

Price: $750 plus shipping and insurance.
