Description:
The Hunter Arms Company was formed to manufacture shotguns for the L.C. Smith Company Circa 1891. The Ideal Grade was advertised as a general purpose shotgun with "Just enough engraving to make it attractive". This Featherweight Ideal grade was manufactured in 1912 and remains in very good overall condition. Wood is solid with no cracks and just a few light use marks. A coat of finish has been added at some point. "London Steel" barrels are very good with original blue worn at muzzle and high contact places. No dents, but there is a spot of pitting on right barrel 10" back from muzzle. Bores remain excellent. Little case color remains and has been worn to bright finish on bottom of receiver. When wood was stained color was bled onto lever, both sideplates and bottom of receiver. This could be easily cleaned off. Hard rubber butt plate has a small chip at toe. Barrels ring true, lockup is tight and function is good. This is an ejector gun. I wish we knew the stories this gun could tell about the last 110 years! Classic! Very nice. 16 Gauge
