I bought this years ago for decoration in my Civil War collection room. It's a pretty darn good simulation - very realistic. I used some long finishing brads to attach it to the paneling in a corner of the room. I've liquidated most of my CW collection and turned the room into an office so it's not needed anymore.
The seller I bought it from stated that it was a replica of an actual ball found embedded into a cedar tree on the Shiloh battlefield.
Measures about 10-1/2" high X 5" at the base. The ball appears to be the correct diameter for a 6 pounder.
