This offering is for a very solid USGI National Postal Meter M1 Carbine. The 4.2 million serial number range would place production roughly in the early spring of 1944. This is a third production block carbine for NPM but many were produced out of sequence due to using subcontractors to fill the gaps in production. This excellent all GI carbine is in late to post war configuration. Features are as follows:
RECEIVER- National Postal Meter, Serial # 4251217
REAR SIGHT- type 3 I.R.C0.
BARREL- Marlin (correct for NPM), shiny bore, original crown, NO IMPORT MARKS, M.E. 2
FRONT SIGHT- Type 2 marked SN
BARREL BAND- Type 3 marked Q
SLIDE- NOS type 4 marked N15
BOLT- Blued Type 3 Underwood .U.
TRIGGER GROUP- Type 3 all Inland parts
STOCK GROUP- Walnut Type 5 stock marked SA (Springfield Armory), 4 rivet handguard marked HI, type 3 recoil plate marked DI, NOS Inland pattern buttplate
