Mauser Borsigwalde was the Second Mauser Plant and was located in a suburb of Berlin. Manufactured relatively early during the pre-World War II period of German re-armament, this Mauser 98 bears the "243" code over the "1938" date on the receiver ring, along with German Military inspection marks. Thin steel butt plate. In 1898 the German Army purchased a Mauser design, the Model 98, which incorporated improvements introduced in earlier models. The weapon was originally chambered for the Patrone 88 and officially entered German service as the Gew. 98 on April 5, 1898. This remains by far the most successful of the Mauser designs, helped by the onset of two world wars that demanded vast numbers of rifles. The overall condition is fair. No import marks. Duffel cut under the barrel band. The action is strong. However, the bolt stop spring is absent so the bolt stop is not currently functional. The front barrel band lacks its spring and the butt plate has a non-matching screw. The base of the rear sight is absent. The bore is dim but with strong rifling and no pitting. The stock is solid and shows inspection markings though it has been stripped of finish. Numbers match throughout. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 24 inches. Caliber: 7.92x57mm (8mm Mauser) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1750 #226569 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
