Description:
Scarce 8ga J.P. Clabrough and Bros. 8ga hammer gun made with 34" laminated barrels. Gun made with splinter forend, double triggers, extractors, round ball grip and butt terminates with its original checkered butt. The gun is nicely engraved with game scenes on the locks with scroll elsewhere in about 40% coverage. The gun has a period repair to the wrist and the gun is in absolutely "as found" condition.
The gun remains in pleasing untouched overall condition. The barrels have about 1/2 of their original pattern remaining. Bores do have some minor pits but overall are very good for this make/model and era of gun. Frame with a hint or two of case color. Jones Rotary underlever action is nice and tight as is the forend. Stock with period repair as noted above is otherwise very good with checkering still visible. Buttplate is original.
