Description:
SOLD Up for sale is a truly spectacular example of an early black powder frame Colt SAA Frontier Six Shooter chambered in .44-40wcf! This gun was meticulously restored at some point, the bluing, case hardening, and small nitre blue or fire blue parts look almost exactly like the factory original finishes that this gun would have come with when it was made! All markings are crisp and without any buff marks or over polishing. I do believe it to be the work of Turnbull Restoration Co., I assumed this when I purhcased it and upon removing the grips I discovered a small sticker stating this was the case. I did call Turnbull in an attempt to confirm but they were unable to locate records of this gun. Also comes with a factory letter showing that the gun was originally shipped as a nickel .38-40wcf gun.
Condition is extremely nice, the bluing remains in approximately 97% condition with a only some light wear on the front and grip straps of the frame, nitre blue small parts show only faint fading, case colors are very strong with no signs of wear!
Action is extremely tight, essentially as new with all four clicks being very distinct!
All numbers are matching on the frame, trigger gaurd, grips(unsure if original) and butt of the gun. At some point, most likely during the restoration, the original barrel and cylinder were replaced with an original 1st generation Frontier Six Shooter barrel and 44-40 cylinder.
