Here we have an 1892 mfg antique French made St. Etienne revolver chambered in 11x17mm rimmed caliber. The service revolver model 1873 Chamelot-Delvigne was the first double-action revolver used by the French Army. It was produced by Manufacture d'armes de Saint-Étienne. Although replaced by the Modele 1892 revolver, it was nevertheless widely used during the First World War, and issued to reserve units in 1940. The Resistance made widespread use of it during the Occupation. Many copies for civilian sale were made in France and Belgium.This particular example has retained much of it's original finish and has a good bore with some minor pitting. Both double and single action work like they should and the gun funtions very well mechanically. This example has all matching serial numbers. The wood grip panels are in good condition with the right grip having a small gap at the bottom. This fine firearm would make an excellent addition to a militaria collection or a great start to a new one. If this firearm could talk it would likely have tales of adventure to tell.
