Description:
James Purdey lightweight 12 ga., 26" inch chopper lump barrels with game rib choked .006/.011 feature original 2-3/4" chambers. Automatic ejectors, double triggers, auto safe. Renowned self-opening action is beautifully engraved in relief acanthus style that reflects a jewel-like appearance contrasted by deeply carved fences. This is a deluxe gun described in the Purdey catalog as "EXTRA FINISH." Produced in 1958, engraved in the manner of Ken Hunt, the best known British engraver of his time. Straight English stock of well-figured French walnut shows a rich honey-amber color, with striking black figure flowing throughout. Measures 1-1/2", comb 1-7/8" heel, 14-1/2" LOP over a 1/2" leather pad. Weighs just 6-1/2 pounds! Fabulous gun in superb condition. Oak and leather case.
