Here we have a Smith & Wesson Military & Police revolver chambered in .38 Special caliber. The Smith & Wesson Model 10, previously known as the Smith & Wesson .38 Hand Ejector Model of 1899, the Smith & Wesson Military & Police or the Smith & Wesson Victory Model, is a K-frame revolver of worldwide popularity. In production since 1899, the Model 10 is a six-shot, .38 Special, double-action revolver with fixed sights. Over its long production run it has been available with barrel lengths of 2 in, 2.5 in, 3 in, 4 in, 5 in , and 6 in. Barrels of 2.5 inches are also known to have been made for special contracts. Some 6,000,000 of the type have been produced over the years, making it the most popular handgun of the 20th century. The particular Military & Police example has a 5 inch pinned barrel has a very good clean bore with strong rifling. The gun has some high edge wear and the finish is in very good condition. Some finish has been lost on the cylinder but nothing major. The action operates very smoothly with a very good double action pull. The hammer and trigger retain much of their original color. The grips on this revolver are very unique.....they are carved bone and are made in Germany. The muzzle has some holster wear but the gun is in overall very good condition. This fine Smith & Wesson revolver would make a great range gun or a strong addition to an existing collection.
