Thomas Bland & Sons of London have been makers of fine shotguns since 1867 and in Birmingham starting in 1840 and are still in business today!  The guns of the early 20th century were known to be very well made and respected side by sides.  This gun, sn18053 made in 1934 or so, is an exceptional example with gorgeous engraving comprised of perfectly executed banknote style scroll and detailed dog and game bird scenes, covering 95% of the receiver.  Even the trigger guard has a wonderful dog scene and tasteful scroll.  The condition of this fine boxlock ejector gun is superb as well with over 70% bold case color and 98% barrel blue, clear sharp lettering, perfect screws, perfect wood to metal fit, extraordinary original flat top checkering with mullered borders, mirror bores, mechanics that are strong and excellent with barrels tight on hinge pin and breech face like a new gun.  Demonstrating the English perfection in gun making, the gun weighs in at 6lbs. 5oz. and balances dead on the hinge pin making it lightning fast and pleasurable in hand.  Still in proof with 2 ½” chambers and a bore diameter of .730 right barrel, .732 left barrel, the gun is a crisp, clean, and attractive London made double.  A great gun for upland game and sporting clays, a gun that will please for decades, it is also a sound value and an affordable, high quality sporting gun.  See specifications below.  Vintage Thomas Bland & Son guns are not easy to find, so don’t let this one get past you.  Thanks for looking!
