Description:
Serial number 13960 is an honest example of a rare Baby Dragoon nearing transition to the Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver.  The serial number range for the Baby Dragoon per R.L Wilson was 1 - 15500.  This version was in the range between 11600 - 15500.   It has the standard square back trigger guard with latter loading lever. The 5” barrel has the Address Sam l Colt/New York City perfectly legible barrel address. All markings are crisp & clear including the Colt’s Patent on the frame & cylinder.  There is approximately 95% coverage of the Stagecoach cylinder scene. The serial number 139600 is matching throughout including the pin and wedge. Serial numbers are sharp. The grips are beautiful. They are a perfect tight fit to the straps. The grips retain almost all varnish with the slightest wear at the heels and very small handling marks. The brass trigger guard & back strap retain approx. 98 - 99% of their silver plating with some black tarnishing. The action is excellent. Tight lock up. Barrel is tight to the frame.  Metal surfaces are smooth…zero pitting with some slight staining on the cylinder. There two safety pins half standing.  The barrel flat edges have some shallow dings, to be expected. The bore lands are still tall but barrel has some frosting.  Baby Dragoon with loading lever reference information below.  Overall this very rare gun was well cared for.  There is no sign of neglect and not a major blemish. This is a desirable rare version of a Baby Dragoon for a Colt, Colt percussion collection. Personally have seen only one of these baby dragoons in 40 years.  At the Baltimore Show. Honoring 3 day inspection.  Buyer pays 50.00 shipping. Thank you.
