Description:
28 inch octagon barrel chambered in 45-70 Govt. caliber with a very good bore. Sights include a beaded blade front and graduated leaf rear with a front mounted "V" notch aperture. Full length magazine tube. Most original blue remains on the barrel and action. Traces of case color remain on the hammer and lever. Smooth action. Forearm and straight grip stock are a nicely grained walnut with a steel buttplate that are in very good condition. Just a few handling dings. This is an early Model 1881 with the rebated receiver. Fewer than 300 were produced with the rebated receiver. Nice early serial number Marlin.
