Description:
1870 - .50-70 Cal. U.S. Springfield Trap Door Carbine. Just 362 of these carbine were produced in 1871 at Springfield Arsenal. The breech block is stamped 1870 with an eagle head over a pair of crossed arrows and a U.S. stamp. The lock plate is dated 1864, walnut stock has ESA Cartouche and another cartouche at bottom of edge behind trigger guard in square box. Medal has no finish. Few nicks & bruises and scratches. Action works and is tight. Bore is bright with some light pitting near muzzle. Very nice condition. Have more pictures if needed.
