Description:
Serial #35156, .44 Caliber, 8" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome revolver that has matching numbers on the frame, barrel assembly, and cylinder, with the metal retaining 95-97% of the original bright blue finish. There is some silvering along some of the high edges, and a few specks of brown freckling along the rear of the frame, but these are negligible, and do not detract from the abnormally high amount of original blue remaining. Additionally, there is some gray fading along the gripstraps, but the hammer and loading lever also retain most of the original color case-hardening. The mechanism is tight and fully functional with robust springs and a tight, positive lock-up. The walnut grip has minor handling marks and blemishes throughout, including some bruises near the butt on the left side, but the cartouches are still crisp and clear. The revolver is accompanied by an original Starr .44 caliber, single cavity mold, and original combination nipple wrench/screwdriver. This is a handsome Civil War era revolver, the best example of a Starr Model 1863 we have ever seen, and is in excellent condition. Near impossible to upgrade! Antique
