Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Money Order Description: Ranger Arms Custom .243 Governor Grade Bolt Action Rifle Left Handed Ranger Arms bolt action rifles were custom built to order by reknown gunsmith Herman Koon in Gainesville, TX from 1968 to 1977. We estimate by the serial number that this gun was built around 1971. These rifles were available in 3 grades, the lowest was the "Statesman", which had no jeweling on the bolt. The middle grade was the "Senator" grade which included the jeweled bolt, but not the knurled bolt handle. This gun is the highest grade, the "Governor" grade, which included the top of the line 5A wood with a jeweled bolt, knurled bolt handle. The "Governor" grade rifle sold for around $750 when they were made. The guns were sequentially serial numbered starting at number 1, this gun is serial number 1331. The first two guns were given to (#1) Governor John Connelly and (#2) Herb Klein of Dallas. One was also given to John Wayne. This rifle has a left handed bolt action with hinged floorplate magazine in Excellent Condition and has a 24 inch barrel with a deep blue high gloss finish that is 99%. The bore is clean and shiny with strong rifling. It includes a set of engraved Burris rings with gold inlay. The high quality stock has beautiful wood with a Monte Carlo comb with a rolled-over cheekpiece, a pistol grip with a flared bottom and a rosewood grip cap that matches the rosewood tip on the forend with a high gloss finish. The wood is 98% with a few light dings near the butt pad. The buttstock has a brown vented recoil pad mounted with white and black spacers marked "Ranger Arms Inc". The Length of Pull is 13-1/2 inches.
