Description:
A 12 bore, 45” round barrel with octagonal breech and a moderately oxidized bore. The metal surfaces of this militia/fowler have mostly toned to a mix of gunmetal gray and plum-brown patina showing scattered old oxidation and pitting. It appears a British barrel was utilized as there is a faint “(Crown) / V” at the breech. The flat lock-plate features beveled edges and a very pronounced teat at the rear and is equipped with an unbridled older style, frizzen. Lock markings are intact with “B. HOMER” surrounded by a simple line border. Hardware includes dual brass ramrod thimbles and tailpipe, iron trigger-guard with foliate finial and long rear tang, iron buttplate with foliate embellished heel extension and wide brass food chopper-style rear lock screw escutcheon. The smooth walnut stock rates good, the butt end itself quite good and the forend showing more Equipped with a simple small blade front sight and rear tang sighting groove, there is a plain hardwood ramrod present and the lock remains functional. Overall length is 60 5/8”. An honest weathered flintlock militia/fowler for over the mantel. When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith  before  shooting. To buy a gun from me you must get a direct email for me, with details, and shipping cost.   We don’t have a web  site .I prefer money orders or a check.  Item ships when funds come in. I try to keep guns  affordable, which means I make less money than most dealers. You won’t get altitude sickness, or nose bleed, with my prices! I consistently have the best selection of  older guns If you attempt to buy,  you must still contact us for details . Best to email to buy. Sometimes a local person can stop buy and purchase before the gun is removed.  Sometimes not home to get calls. Some guns are required shipment to a gun dealer near you for a transfer to you when it arrives. Otherwise many older or black powder guns ship to your door. With the widest selection of older guns at great prices, We don’t have a store, and sell on the internet only.  I’m easy to get along with. Thank You
