Description:
With an early serial #2742 possibly a Sharon, or Green Mountain made barrel, and , 54 cal, 30” octagon barrel with a 1:66” twist and a bright excellent bore. The barrel and spurred triggerguard retain about 90% original blue with a 2” area on the left side of the barrel just ahead of the forend which is toning to gray with spots of cleaned light pitting and some scattered spots of light oxidation. The lockplate and hammer retain about strong original case-hardened colors with the balance toning to a blend of light and dark gray patina. The barrel is marked on the right quarter-flat in riband “ROUND BALL-TWIST 1:66.” The smooth walnut straight grip halfstock rates near excellent with a scattered light handling mark or two and the left side of the buttstock displays some striking unusal, custom feather crotch figure. The tang sight hole is vacant, the hardwood ramrod and original sights are intact, the double set triggers are functional and the action is strong and crisp. Overall a very nice shooter.When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
