CLASSIC EARLY PRODUCTION REMINGTON MODEL-51 .380 HAMMERLESS AUTO PISTOL, #9XXX. Considered one of the best, if not THE best, of the pocket .380s of the time, the Model 51 was made from 1918-1934 with about 54,500 made. Serial numbers ran to 60,800 (one can only assume blocks of numbers were skipped). Early production guns had 9 grooves in the slide with later production guns having 15 grooves. This example was probably a second or third year production and has the 9 grooves. Overall a very fine condition example retaining most of the original blue with only some dulling/thinning on the grip straps and bottom of the trigger guard. All markings are sharp, action is tight and the bore is bright and sharp. The grip safety functions correctly and there is a tiny almost imperceptible chip at the rear left corner of the grip panel. Nice 100+ year old Remington.
