M1A1, First Production Run Paratrooper by Inland Division of General Motors in original, correct, and almost pristine condition. Serial number 215xxx, barrel dated 1-43. ME is 0.2. Thin crack on the bottom of the stock was repaired (glued) professionally. It is barely visible and there is no movement. Wear patterns are strikenly consistent, as shown by the photos.
No re-arsenal stamps or import stamps.
The undocumented and unverfied story is that the paratrooper was the bringback of a gilder pilot who crashed in Normandy on D-Day. After walking all the way to Berlin, his buddies wanted a German luger but he only wanted to keep his paratrooper. I have a name in 82nd Airborne and tried to research it, but had no luck. Still "buy the gun, not the story". The gun is an outstanding first run M1A1.
