Description:
Rare and Beautiful Colt DS chambered in .32 Colt NP. The serial number shows it was manufactured in 1978, making it a 3rd Issue revolver, but it has the appearance of a late 2nd Issue with the wrap-around grips and non-shrouded ejector rod. There is no ejector rod shroud because Colt would put into production unused inventory, a common practice for them. They cleaned out the parts bins, found some 2nd Issue barrels in .32 New Police, and worked them into production. These types of unique firearms are often referred to as 'Parts Clean-up Guns' and they are found throughout Colt production over the years. Note that the .32 New Police cartridge is the same thing as a .32 S&W Long and ammo is readily available (Colt just didn't like to stamp "S&W" on their guns).
This revolver is in excellent condition, very close to brand new. The original finish rates 99%+ with hardly a turn line on the cylinder. There are very few tiny handling marks but absolutely no rust or any pitting. The original grips are in excellent shape with only a few tiny marks, no cracks or chips. The mechanics are in perfect working order and the bore is like new. It has been fired, but obviously very little.
This Colt revolver is unique and in collector-grade condition. Comes in a period-correct, high quality reproduction box with label, which is blank. More professional pics available.
