Description:

Winchester Model 12, 20 Gauge Pump. In 80% condition as appraised by Shoppy at Guns Plus in Surprise, AZ.

This may not be the correct description. Checking information now. One knowledgable person commented:
I don’t think the pictured gun (plain field grade) is the same as the described gun (vent rib with “pigeon fore end”).

This gun has been single family owned since bought new in 1936 by my grandfather.

360,000 were manufactured from 1925 - 1943.  Seriel number is 691660. Manufactured in 1936. Purchased new in Hunt County, Greenville, Texas.

The finishes in great condition overall with only light field use markings, there is a small amount of blue loss where the slide was run through it's cycle at the end of the shell tube, there are some handling marks on the buttstock, the wood grain looks very good with field use minimal scratches, noe pronounced or deep.

The action is original blue with only the slightest edge loss, the matte section on top is perfect, the jewelling on the breech bolt has some loss of jewelling commiserate with normal use, action is clean inside and free of any rust.

It has been kept in pristine condition, in case, never fired for over 40 years. It is classified as a Curio / Relic, by ATF, it's 87 years young.
Minimal use during Dove hunting season from 1936 to 1948. In storage since 1950.

The barrel is 26" with a full length factory vent rib, the roll mark on the left side of the barrel is clear with sharp edges and the blue is strong original blue, 2 3/4" chamber, bore is mirror and measures .548 with a skeet choke and marked as such.

The stocks are a pistol grip/ pigeon fore end with pigeon grade chequering in very good  condition. The butt stock has some hazing in the original finish and there are some marks along the grain.

The contrast of grain in the stock is really nice and runs evenly through both sides of the stock, the fore end wood shows some field marks. Has 13 1/2" length of pull to a proper Winchester plate, phillips screws as factory installed for the 1936 year. Their is slight movment between wood stock and metal set screw. This can be tightned and reset.

If you are reading this, it's available. No need to ask.

The gun weighs 7lbs 6oz. and will be packed / Shipped by FFL, Westside Mail Center in Surprise, AZ.

Email any questions offers please. Jerry

Did you know, Why did Winchester stop making the Model 12?

The Model 12 reigned supreme until that oh so pivotal year in gun making – 1964 – when it was discontinued because of the increasing cost of manufacturing and increased competition from the less expensive Remington 870 and others.
