"Ballard Sporting Rifle by Ball & Williams. Serial# 4230. Caliber.38 Rimfire. Barrel length 28"". Bore is perfect, barrel has 99% original blue. Stock has 99% original varnish. Receiver has very good blue but has thinned on the sides to a blue-brown patina. ln view of the rest of the gun looking near mint we do not have any idea how the receiver blue thinned. This is a very fine Ballard and looks beautiful.
