Description:
VERY LATE 1892 SADDLE RING CARBINE, .38-40 CALIBER, #977XXX, MADE DURING THE YEAR OF THE GREAT STOCK MARKET CRASH OF 1929! A good, solid carbine that obviously saw use as a saddle gun. The receiver is mostly gray with excellent screw heads and fine blue on the loading gate. The barrel is mostly gray with excellent late style markings and correct carbine ladder rear sight with slide intact. The magazine tube shows some good aged blue mixing brown. Saddle ring and staple intact. Fine walnut stock and forend show tight wood to metal fit and only very light handling. Tight action with strong hammer spring and safety half-cock. Bore is fairly bright and may have some leading in the grooves mostly. I ran a wire brush into the bore and then a patch- came out black- an indication that more cleaning is needed. Should be excellent if not better. Lots of life left in this one.
