Description:
"Serial number 8275. Made in 1878. 45 Schofield Caliber with a 7" barrel. This engraved and nickel plated with 40% - 50% of the nickel plating remaining. Civilian Schofields are a fairly scarce gun with only 650 of these manufactured and only a fraction of those were ever engraved. This gun was shipped to M. W. Robinson in New York City who was Smith & Wesson’s largest distributor. It is presumed that M. W. Robinson had it engraved.  This gun comes with a factory letter confirming it is a civilian and shipped to M. W. Robinson. This gun was formerly in the collection of noted Smith & Wesson expert and Author Jim Supica. This gun has been featured in numerous books including multiple issues of The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson. It has also been on display at the NRA museum and there is a Museum tag on the trigger guard of this gun. This is a very fine very scarce engraved Smith & Wesson New York Engraved Schofield Model that is very ell documented!
