Description:
30 inch full octagon barrel chambered in 50-70 Govt. caliber with a very good bright shiny bore that has very light scattered roughness with crisp rifling. Should still be a fine shooter. The barrel has turned to a rich plum/brown patina with traces of blue in protected areas. Sights include a silver blade front and a buckhorn sporting rear. Receiver has turned a mix of brown/gray with traces of silvery case colors. Hammer and breech block show some color as well. Good markings. The forend has a slight schnabel tip with a horn insert and is in good condition with worn checkering and a few thin cracks on the left side. The buttstock has stronger checkering and a left side cheeckpiece with a heavy steel crescent buttplate that retains most of its nickel finish. There is a bit of a gap where the buttplate meets the toe of the stock. There is a brass tipped hickory rod under the barrel. Double set triggers function properly. This is an honest looking desirable big bore 50 caliber Ballard No. 5 Pacific that still has some life left in it and should make for a good shooter with its very good bore.
