Payment Types Accepted: Check, MO, Wire Transfer Description: J. Blanch began in 1809 and in 1848 he admitted his third son William into the firm and the name was changed to J. Blanch & Son. This cased set has two J. Blanch 49 caliber percussion pistols, a flask, barrel wrench, mold and 10 lead balls. The mechanical function is very good with strong mainsprings and very good nipples. The pistols are engraved on the top tang, hammer, trigger guard and sided of the receiver. Both of the smooth-bore barrels show evidence of corrosion. Pistol #4806 A has more of the blue finish remaining than #4806 B. The barrels are 2 3/8” and 7” overall in length. The case lid is slightly cupped. J. Blanch was known as a good name maker. Barrels are both marked London and both have British Proof marks on the bottom of the breech. This set was made about 1840.
