SALE PENDING............."CARBINE" .....1892 Mfg, Winchester model 1873... 44-40......LAYAWAY?...IN HAND NOW! .... serial #409382B, 44 W.C.F., 20” round barrel with full magazine and a fair/Good bore with moderate pitting and oxidation scattered throughout but with evident strong rifling remaining. The metal surfaces of this Third Model carbine have toned to an oxidized brown patina with undertones of gunmetal gray, scattered very light pitting, and strong remnants of blue on the loading gate and protected areas of the lever; the cartridge lifter has toned to a pale golden patina on the bottom . The smooth straight grip walnut stock and forend are in very good+ condition with a few light marks. The two-line barrel address and model marking on the upper tang remain largely legible with the caliber marking mostly faded on the barrel (still clear on the cartridge lifter), and the serial number on the lower tang is intact. The carbine retains the standard open sights, the ladder-style rear sight marked “1873” and graduated from 2 to 9, the saddle ring and stud are intact, and the carbine appears to function well mechanically. A good 1892-made saddle ring carbine with a “been there, done that” look. Action works properly. ....LOOKS MUCH BETTER THAN PHOTOS!
