Manufactured 1861 - 1862. Serial number 12138. All matching. .36 caliber. Barrel address: BEALS PATENT SEPT. 14, 1858/MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS’ ILION, N.Y. stamped clearly on top of barrel. Inspector markings “U” on bbl, “J” on left rear frame. The gun is really nice brown & plumb color throughout and in great condition. There are some shallow dings on the front bottom sides of the frame which are not moisture caused. The entire gun has smooth surfaces and sharp edges and patina is all balanced from the butt to the muzzle. The original nipples are excellent. Action works properly. Bore is easily a 7 - 8. The grips are fine with a ding at the right grip rear heal. Minor. Brass trigger guard has dark tarnish look. Overall the gun is in fine condition. Considering the bore and nipples, this gun could not have been fired often over 160 years. Compare this Navy Beals condition and cost to others. Honoring 3 day inspection.
