Based on a Mark X Mauser 98 action built in Yugoslavia and stocked in AAA English walnut with dynamic grain, features include a banded front sight with button-release hood and flip up night bead, banded sling swivel stud, bedded action (to the recoil lug), custom bottom metal with push-button floorplate release and a leather-covered recoil pad. Accents include a rosewood forend tip and grip cap, exceptional checkering and a shadow line cheekpiece. The barrel is 23.5 inches long and topped by a quarter rib with one fixed and three folding regulated leafs. The length-of-pull is 13.75 inches and weight is 9.0 pounds. Both the rust blue metal finish and the stock remain in at least 99% condition, with only the slightest hint of handling wear. The forearm has a small filled flaw (not a crack) on right side just aft of the forend tip. Inside, the bore is pristine. From an estate, the history is unclear. That said and even though unsigned, the estate represented the maker as Dale Goens – quite likely accurate as it included several other rifles from the same maker. The price is firm and layaway is available. $4,000 plus shipping. SOLD Rifle Caliber: .458 Winchester Magnum |
