Description:
***   SOLD   ***   Handsome W. Richards of Preston & Liverpool lightweight sidelock ejector made in 1948 with fabulous game scene and scroll engraving. Highly figured English walnut stock, hidden third fastener, and disc set strikers. Cased with maker’s label. Weighs 6lb 2oz.   ***   The 28” nitro steel chopper lump barrels are chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells and are topped by a raised concave game style rib. The rib is inscribed “W. Richards. Preston & Liverpool.”. The bores are shiny and the bluing in very good condition. The right barrel is bored 0.734 with a constriction of 0.021 for Half choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.027. The left barrel has a constriction of 0.730 and has a constriction of 0.037 for Full choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.028.   ***   The straight grip stock and splinter forearm are crafted from highly figured European walnut with a hand rubbed oil finish. There are a few minor and easily repairable dings on the stock. Stock dimensions are 14-1/2” including a 1” leather covered pad by 1-1/2” by 2”. This is a right handed gun that has been bent a little left. I believe it could easily be bent back for a right handed shot. Or used as is by a lefthander.   ***   This is a very handsome double with fabulous engraving and fabulous wood. It was made immediately post WWII so has modern steel. It is a lightweight twelve bore but weighs the same as many 16’s and 20’s. Easy to carry around on a long day afield. Wherever you might be, in the field or on the range, you will enjoy uncasing this high quality double.  ***   I am an FFL and will need a signed copy of your dealer’s FFL license. The photographs are part of the description. Not for sale where prohibited by state or local laws. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period which begins when it arrives at the buyer’s FFL or buyer’s specified shipping address if classified as an Anitque. Returns at buyer’s expense.
