Description:
This is an excellent French Model 1866 Chassepot bayonet #P34508 with #M23583 scabbard. The unsharpened Yataghan blade is in excellent condition from the French arsenal of St Etietnne in the year 1872. The unsharpened 22 5/8" blade is free of any imperfection with only minor scuffing from running in and out of the scabbard and virtually no oxidation. The guard is clearly stamped P34508 and the correct proof marks with only light oxidation. The handle is fine and fully functional with more proof marks. The scabbard is in overall excellent condition with serial number M23583, most of the original blue and fine oxidation.
