This little Cody Firearms Museum Winchester Model 1892 Trapper was owned by Mexican General Benecio Lopez Padilla. Padilla was governor of the Mexican State of Coahuila from 1941 to 1945. He was born in 1888. In his early years, he used this rifle in the Mexican Revolution where he fought alongside the likes of Pancho Villa and Pascual Orozco. On his death in 1969, he passed down this rifle to his granddaughter. The two leather scabbards included with the sale are original to the owner. The smaller one fits the Trapper well and is marked "58 Regto" (58th Regimiento). The slightly larger scabbard bears General Padilla's initials "BL" on the fold over. This rifle letters as a factory 16" trapper from the Cody Firearms Museum. It was manufactured in 1899. Caliber 32 WCF. This is one of the oldest known Trappers in existence and the rarest caliber by far. Everything you see is included in the sale. Both scabbards, both letters, and the incredible Winchester 1892 Trapper. We are the fourth owners of this firearm. It was first owned by General Padilla, then passed down to his grandaugter, then sold to a Winchester Collector who dated the grandaughter. The grandaughter and her family had this rifle, the scabbards, and a Spanish marked S&W revolver hanging above their fireplace. The Collector always asked about the guns and loved to hear the story of the Grandfather. He said that he would give the rifle a good home if the family ever needed the money. The grandaughter unfortunately had a stroke at the age of 39. Her brother called the Collector and offered him the rifle. It has been in his possession until he recently decided to liquidate his massive Winchester collection. Don't miss your chance on these firearms ladies and gentlemen. They are truly the best of the best The gun is fully functional. It has a nice, tight and functioning action. Minor cracks present on wood, nothing major. Gun is all original as shown. Ask all questions before buying. We are open to serious offers. Shipping is $55 for the gun to your FFL, C&R accepted, and $30 for the scabbards and letters to your home or office for their safekeeping for a total of $85.
