Serial No. 185751, made in 1882, .45-70, 32.5"" round barrel. Barrel and Iron furnishings are an even brown patina. Stock shows dings and wear marks. Bore is bright with minor frosting noted in the grooves, 1883 cartouche is present with ""circle P"" rear of trigger guard. Springfield Research Services shows this rifle was issued to Pvt. Frank M. Butts Co. L 2nd Regiment, Oregon U.S. Volunteers in 1898. Pvt. Butts was stationed for some time in the Philippines during the Spanish American War.
