Description:
Winchester Model 12 (factory original) 28-gauge pump action shotgun. Important to note that this gun was made in 1956, the first year for the round post factory installed Special Ventilated Rib.
26” barrel, skeet choked and has front and mid beads on the vent rib. Factory checkered extension forearm and checkered highly figured butt stock with correct Winchester butt plate.
This gun is completely original except for the fact that someone, at some time, thought the forearm should have a coat of finish added! Otherwise, the buttstock finish is original as are all metal finishes. I would call the blue 97% but…on the right side of the receiver behind and below the loading/ejection port the are some very tiny, very light spots of oxidation visible in the blue. Also a few, expected spots of edge wear on the 67 year old gun.
The wood is 96% with a finish “chip” on the heel near the butt plate and the extra finish on the forearm.
Further validation of the originality is the picture of the “28” stamp on the back of the receiver and the shell stop.
Summary: A rare, extremely nice example of an original Model 12 28-gauge Skeet gun with a round post rib.
