This Springfield Armory manufactured U.S. Model 1855 58 caliber percussion rifle-musket was manufactured in 1857. The barrel measures 59 caliber and apprars to be smooth bore with a fair bore. The metal is bright with evidence of vigorous polishing in some areas. The stock is very good with wood missing at the ramrod channel. The Maynard tape primer door and rear sight leaves are absent. The lock will cock but it does not function correctly. The ramrod and swivels are present. With a little effort, this rifle could be restored to a presentable condition. Offered at about half of what a complete rifle would bring.
