****SOLD**** Presented here is a sporterized BYF Mauser K98 in .243 Winchester caliber. The Karabiner 98 kurz , often abbreviated Karabiner 98k, Kar98k or K98k and also sometimes incorrectly referred to as a K98 (a K98 is a Polish carbine and copy of the Kar98a), is a bolt-action rifle originally chambered for the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge. It was adopted on 21 June 1935 as the standard service rifle by the German Wehrmacht. It was one of the final developments in the long line of Mauser military rifles. BYF is a wartime produced Mauser. The .243 Winchester (6×52mm) is a popular sporting rifle cartridge. Developed as a versatile short action cartridge to hunt both medium game and small game alike, it "took whitetail hunting by storm" when introduced in 1955, and remains one of the most popular whitetail deer cartridges. This K98 in .243 Winchester has been sporterized at some point and the conversion was nicely done. As part of the sporterizing the bolt handle has been changed, the receiver has been drilled and tapped for optics, the barrel has been replaced, it's been stocked with what appears to be a Fajen sporter stock and there were probably additional modifications. There are some spots of finish imperfection on the barrel and some high edge wear. The monte carlo stock is in good condition with a few marks and pressure spots. The bore is good with strong rifling.
