Description:
A classic Sig. According to research performed using the serial number and the grips, this pistol was manufactured in February of 1992, prior to the Clinton Ban era, so the pistol’s original .40-caliber magazines are 12-round capacity. One of Sig’s finest pistols, the P229 was designed as a more compact version of the P226. Like most Sig pistols, it was designed for combat duty, but is also suited to such tasks as home-defense and self-defense (car or conceal carry). This one comes with night sights, which appear to be the original sights. They no longer function of course, as 31 years is well beyond the life expectancy of the average night sight. As one of the most popular pistols on the market, replacement night sights are not hard to come by. The double-action/single-action (DA/SA) nature of the pistol, combined with Sig’s trademark de-cocker, makes the P229 a very safe pistol to operate. The handgun’s two-tone finish looks beautiful. Mechanically, the pistol is sound. The trigger is smooth and crisp. The bore is in excellent shape though powder residue is present. The top of the barrel has none of the original Nitron finish present, which is not uncommon among used Sig pistols. Though both the frame and slide have the Exeter, NH stamp, the frame states on the right side that it was made in Germany. The frame exhibits some finish wear, most notably on the underside of the dust cover. The rosewood grips are in superb shape. As stated in the title, there are a total of three magazines that come with the pistol. It also comes with the original box, manual, and a cleaning kit. Sig pistols are well known world-wide for their accuracy and reliability. If you are looking for a reliable, caliber-convertible pistol for home or self-defense, the P229 is an excellent choice.
