Description: Winchester Model 1866 SRC Rifle .44 Rimfire caliber Made in 1870 Saddle Ring Carbine  Action cycles Receiver, side plates, and tangs are in excellent condition as is the engraving with a very nice patina for a 153 year old firearm Shows the changes from the original Henry rifle such as an enclosed magazine tube, forend, and saddle ring Full length magazine tube 20" round barrel  Barrel address is not ledgible Original rear flip sight and blade front sight which is part of barrel band Engraved receiver (Style 2) matches engraving by master engraver Conrad Ulrich In book "Winchester Engraving" by R.L. Wilson page 73 the Mexican eagle on 1866 s/n 36130 is the same style engraving and thought to be from Ulrich as is this rifle Winchester Bible by Madis has this exact gun listed as pictured while not signed, shows this gun was factory engraved most likely by an Ulrich brother most likely Conrad Any master engraved Winchester is very desirable but especially of this era Lever and bolt have been heavily rusted Steel butt plate with storage Walnut stock in good overall condition with some handling marks, appears to be replacement Bore is dark Very rare and desirable Winchester 1866 SRC Serial number 44267XX SOLD
