Description:
In late 1944 High Standard, under government contract, began development of a suppressed pistol of larger caliber with a removable barrel. The war ended with only a single pistol delivered. The government canceled the contract and paid High Standard for work completed. With frames already fabricated, High Standard proceeded to use them to make a commercial pistol, hence the Model G. Production of the G Model began in 1947 and ended in 1950 with about 7800 produced. The gun was not a great seller even though it was the only pistol made in America chambered in .380 at the time. .380 ACP
