Payment Types Accepted: Bank to bank wire transfer (preferred), or bank cashier's check only Description: Outstanding example of what has become one of the more difficult of all collectible Winchesters to find in unaltered condition... the wonderful Winchester Model 54 in .30 GOV'T.'06 (30-06). Only 50,000 were ever made in all styles and calibers of this immediate predecessor to the world reknowned Model 70. The vast majority have had most of their collector value lost through mutilated bolt handles and the related cut outs to the wood, drill holes, recoil pads, refinish, etc. In my experience, I would estimate that there are only 15- 20% that have survived and most of those are locked up in collections that seldom surface. This rifle is in superb condition throughout showing better than 98% original bluing over most, other than some typical flaking of bottom metal and buttplate which is always anticipated on this model. The original lacquer shows very little wear of any kind with just some scattered minor impressions in the wood. It even has the original hanging hoop swivels which can be easily unclipped with only moderate finger pressure. The bore and mechanical functions are like new. The rear sight is a long slide Lyman 48W with matching component numbers. The rear receiver bridge remains undrilled. Instead of a simple filler in the barrel dovetail, there is an original issue 2 leaf Lyman 6W collapsible 2 leaf flip sight, perhaps as a backup to the peep. Surely one of the finest examples you will see offered for a long while. S/N 5044 made in 1926. That is nearly 100 years old! Expedited and fully insured shipping from Alaska to your FFL is an aditional $75 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
