A beautiful English 20 ga. by Henry Clarke of Leicester, England. Rebounding hammers with half cock notch. The locks work perfectly and internally have no wear or rust. They have 4 screw bridles with open centers. They are seriously high quality. The action has dual underlugs and is tight, on face land shows minimal wear. All of the metal is fully covered in tight scroll engraving. All the screw slots line up properly without any wear or damage. The 29" barrels show 95% of the Damascus pattern. The bores show roughness and could use a honing but should clean up nicely. The walnut stock shows good color and generous checkering which is also extremely well done. There are handling and use marks. The butt has a 14 1/4" LOP to a finely checkered horn plate. The silver nameplate in the butt is engraved with initials JBA. Henry Clarke began in 1832 and later changed the name to Midland Gun Works and ceased business in 1963. This gun is equal in quality to several "Best" guns I have owned by more famous London makers and it is a joy to handle. With light loads it would make a super nice Quail gun.
