.357 Mag, N-frame. The model 27 revolver was extremely popular among law enforcement officers. Any police agencies were interested in purchasing such a weapon......except for cost. In 1954, S&W produced the new model called, \"Highway Patrolman\". It had all desirable performance features of deluxe Model 27, but lacked cosmetic features that drove up price. Finish matte blue; rib sandblasted instead of checkered ir serrated; grips standard checkered walnut. Barrel lengths 4 and 6.5 in. On late models, reduced to 6\" (which is barrel length listed)
