Considered the "Rolls-Royce of Colt Revolvers", the Colt Python has a reputation for accuracy, smooth trigger pull, and a tight cylinder lock-up. Built on Colt's large I-frame, the Python is a double action handgun chambered for .357 Magnum cartridge and features a full barrel underlug, ventilated rib and adjustable sights. Originally designed as a target revolver, the Python became a popular carry among uniformed and plainclothes officers. All Pythons have Impeccable finish and mechanics, hand finished and tuned to legendary precision. This 1978 manufactured gun, serial number V14618 wears Colts famous Royal Blue finish, it has a few handling marks, the cylinder shows a faint drag line. The bore has a mirror finish. Cocking the hammer on this revolver is the most satisfying combination of sound and mechanical perfection leading to a SA trigger break of 3.3lb, DA is likewise smooth at 10. 4lb. This Python is fitted with the second style of Accro adjustable rear sights, the top strap and rib are matted to reduce glare. On its introduction in 1955, the Python was one of the most imposing and expensive models offered by Colt. It represented Colts proposal to produce a deluxe high powered revolver in which the highest forms of mechanical and design perfection were to be embodied. History has shown that Colts aspirations have proven correct. With prices of Pythons continuing to climb, getting a foot on the ladder sooner than later is the way to go, there are diminishing chances to own a Vintage Python so strike fast or this snake will be gone!
