Description:
International Harvester Model U.S. Rifle M1 Garand is a right-hand semi-auto U.S. Military rifle in .30-06 Springfield. It has a 24-inch barrel. A blade front sight with protective sides and an adjustable aperture rear sight. The butt stock is a smooth hardwood pistol grip. The forearm is smooth two-piece hardwood. LMR barrel dated 12-52. MW: 2, TE: 2. SN 4440637. To allow IHC to expedite production startup, some of the components were made by other arsenals. The receiver for this rifle was made by Springfield Armory and were in the approximate 4,440,000-4,441,100 serial number range. Although marked "International Harvester," the logo markings on the receiver were applied by Springfield Armory. Collectors have dubbed this variant SA/IHC receiver as the "Arrowhead" due to the layout of the nomenclature markings which, with a bit of imagination, resemble an arrowhead with a broken tip.
