Description:
The Sig Sauer P232 fills the same role as the Walther PP/PPKs and Bersa Thunder 380. Like the PPK/s, the P232 in 380 ACP has a 7-round magazine capacity. Like other Sig Sauer pistols, it uses a frame-mounted de-cocker rather than a conventional safety. In operation, the P232 is a double-action first-shot, single-action afterward style pistol. This method of operation is common on most Sig Sauer pistols as well as the Walther PP-series and many Beretta pistols. The P232 is well-suited to conceal-carry duties and has less-recoil than smaller-sized 380 pistols like the Kel-Tec P3AT, Ruger LCP I/II, and S&W Bodyguard .380. The pistol uses a low-profile anti-snag design to prevent it from catching on anything when being drawn for use. The pistol does not come with the original box, but there is a soft case as well as three spare magazines for a total of 4. There is also a IMI Industries Level 2 polymer holster. The pistol itself is in great condition. The bore has some fouling present, but no rust or pitting. The slide exhibits a few small scratches but is otherwise in superb shape. There is one minor nick in the frame on the left side of the trigger guard. The night sights are rather old and have dimmed with time, but they still work to an extent. The factory grips (made by Hogue for Sig) are in superb shape with no rotting, splitting, or drying out present. Many examples of the P232 will have a two-letter code on the right side of the slide in which the two letters represent the last two digits of the year. The code worked as follows: A = 0, B = 1, C = 2, D = 3, E = 4, F = 5, G = 6, H = 7, J = 8, K = 9. So, for example, a pistol with the letter code KH was manufactured in 1997. Unfortunately, this example was produced after Sig ceased to stamp a letter code on their slides, and so it doesn’t have one. The DE is not a letter code but is in fact a proof mark. Were it a letter code, the number would be 34 for either 1934, or 2034, neither of which is applicable to this pistol. The P232 is very much on par with Walther’s PP-series of pistols and would be well suited to concealed-carry situations. Sadly, they are no longer manufactured.
